This session explores how effective teachers create positive learning environments where excellent behaviour is the norm rather than the exception. The primary focus is on proactive behaviour management, examining how classroom routines, high expectations, strong relationships, engaging lessons and consistent practice prevent behavioural issues before they occur.
Participants also learn practical reactive strategies for responding calmly and consistently when behaviour falls below expectations. The session considers de-escalation techniques, appropriate consequences and how schools can develop a whole-school approach where staff work together to promote positive behaviour and maintain consistent expectations.
By the end of the session, teachers will understand how proactive classroom management creates the conditions for successful learning while developing the confidence to respond effectively when challenges arise.
